From learning statistical analysis alongside medical researchers to investigating a question in my own classrooms.
Learning in a research team
In early 2025, I interned in the research department of the IPDI Foundation. Working alongside cardiologists and experienced researchers showed me how a research question moves through data preparation, analysis, and a manuscript.
I contributed data editing and coding, SPSS analysis, and manuscript sections to a study of depression at admission and short-term outcomes among patients with acute coronary syndrome.
The published work
The paper, “Evaluate the impact of admission depression on the short-term outcome of patients with ACS,” was published in IOSR Journal of Dental and Medical Sciences in August 2025. It lists me as a coauthor and Research Assistant, Notre Dame College.
It reports an observational cohort of 192 patients, with depression screening using PHQ-9. The patient data were collected in 2017–18; my research involvement came later, during the 2025 analysis and writing work.
Research training
Alongside the January–March 2025 internship, I completed a 10-hour research-methodology workshop led by Prof. Dr. Md. Mozammel Hoque. Learning among doctors and experienced researchers gave me a foundation for designing my own study.
The next question
I went on to design and lead a study of AI use among Bangladeshi students. That ongoing project has its own research page, with the question, sample, and my first-author contribution.
